As Dexter fans anxiously await Showtime’s 10-episode limited revival series, casting details are sneaking their way online. With each passing day I’m more and more curious to see how this new series is going to pan out… Well, today’s news doesn’t help. Series alumni Jennifer Carpenter now returns alongside fellow standout costar John Lithgow for the revival, Deadline reports.
As Lithgow discussed his recent Emmy nomination for HBO’s Perry Mason, he revealed another dead character would be joining the revial: co-star Jennifer Carpenter! This means we will be seeing them both join the dark reunion alongside series showrunner Clyde Phillips, and star Michael C. Hall.
Talking to Deadline, Lithgow had this to say:
“As all Dexter fans know, we saw the end of the Trinity Killer, so that by definition means it’s a flashback … it was just wonderful to rejoin that gang—including Michael and Jennifer Carpenter and Clyde Phillips.”
What does it all mean? And why will I have to wait until the fall the figure it all out? To make matters even worse, last January Clancy Brown was cast as main series antgonist Kurt Cladwell. What a dream team team.
For those who may need a light refresher —Carpenter portrayed Dexter’s sister Deborah— a detective who capitalized on Dexter’s unique… abilities. Deborah was killed in the final episode of the series.

Dexter survived for eight seasons and ended its run all the way back in 2013. The series followed an unassuming blood-spatter analyst who happened to moonlight as a serial killer on the hunt for murderers.
