Showtime’s limited series Dexter revival with Michael C. Hall hits this year. And today, Hall has teased the upcoming ninth season might not be the last one.
Hall tells NME: “I’m reluctant to say ‘definitely’, you know? What’s plain now is that there are 10 new episodes.”
Sounds good to me. For now…
He adds: “I’m looking forward to getting back into Dexter’s shoes. I don’t really know what to expect, as I’ve never returned to a job after so much time. Having Dexter in a completely different context, we’ll see how that feels. It’s been interesting to figure out how to do that and I thought it was time to find out what the hell happened to him.”
Julia Jones (The Mandalorian) leads the new cast with Alano Miller (Sylvie’s Love), Johnny Sequoyah (Believe), and Jack Alcott (The Good Lord Bird). Clancy Brown (Pet Sematary Two, Shawshank Redemption) plays the villain, Kurt Caldwell.

Marcos Siega will helm six of the revival’s ten episodes. He will also executive produce with Hall. John Goldwyn will too with Sara Colleton, Bill Carraro, Scott Reynolds. Clyde Phillips, the showrunner on the first four seasons, returns as well.
Gary Levine and Jana Winograde, Presidents of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc. said in a statement: “Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago. We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world!”
Production has begun in Massachusetts with a premiere set for fall 2021.
